Smelly feet are caused by body odour that affects the feet and has a medical term called bromodosis.

Naturally, feet produce sweat, especially during hot days or when you walk for long hours.

The accumulation of sweat gradually results in bacteria growing on the feet.

The bacteria that form is what leads to bad odours.

This condition could make you feel self-conscious and shy to remove your shoes when visiting someone’s house or when it is necessary to remove your shoes.

Here’s how to say goodbye to smelly feet;

Always keep your feet clean
Regular foot care is key in avoiding smelly feet.

Maintaining good and clean foot hygiene keeps bacteria at bay.

Wear the right socks
The right socks are those that absorb moisture.

Thick, soft and absorbent socks are good to help your feet stay fresh and sweat-free.

Remember, the socks should also not be too tight, they should instead be comfortable.

Wear the right shoes
Avoid shoes that are tight or may retain moisture.

Wearing shoes that are your right size (not too big/too small) is key.

You should also ensure that they have some breathing space.

It is also essential to wear closed shoes with socks so that the sweat produced is absorbed.

Avoiding dump shoes and socks
Never wear dump shoes or socks.

The extra moisture will cause bacteria to grow and contribute to bad odour.

Make sure they are completely dry before wearing them.

Airing them out in the sun makes sure they dry properly.

Use antibacterial and antifungal soaps
These could help in killing the extra bacteria that could be building up on your feet.

Dry your feet well
After you’re done swimming or taking a shower ensure you dry your feet well.

You should have a separate towel for drying your feet.

Make sure your feet are dry especially in between your toes.

Wearing open shoes
Sandals or slippers come in handy in keeping the feet dry and open to the air.

They will help prevent smelly feet.
