One of the stars of Married At First Sight UK has revealed she had a ‘secret hen do’ before saying ‘I do’ on the show, saying that she felt ‘so invested’.

Last year, Amy Christophers tied the knot with Josh Christie on the E4 programme, with the pair embarking on an up-and-down relationship, complete with tense rows and sizzling chemistry.

However, it turned out the couple weren’t made to last in the real world, with Amy, 35, recently splitting from firefighter Leon McKenzie after the pair had been together for a few months.

During a recent interview, the sports journalist looked back at the moments leading up to her wedding to Josh, who she’d never met before they exchanged vows with one another.

Speaking to Johnny Seifert on Secure The Insecure podcast, Amy explained that her friends celebrated her nuptials in a ‘secret hen do’, which was adapted to Zoom while she was isolating.

‘I had a secret hen do on zoom with my friends while I was in isolation. And they sent to the hotel like willy stuff and all of that. So yeah, properly went for it,’ she said.
‘And I genuinely felt like that was my hen party. I was so invested in this like, that’s what I wanted.’

Amy recollected how in the morning of her wedding, she ‘woke up at 4am’ due to the anticipation for the big day.

‘I even woke up at 4am on my wedding day and changed a bit of my vows because I woke up in like a sweat being like, “Oh my god, the fact that this might actually be the love of my life and my life could change from this,”’ she stated.

‘This is it, like petrifies me, like why does it petrify me? This is what I want.’
Following her split from 38-year-old Leon, Amy told OK! magazine that at the present moment, her love life is ‘pretty non-existent’, adding: ‘But that’s fine.’

‘I’m just trying to stay in my own happiness every day,’ she said.

‘I mean, I’m not averse to dating – if the right guy came along I would be open to dating – but right now I’m not going out looking for it because I think, when you go out looking for it, you can chase the wrong people.’

She added that she was ‘just focusing on myself, still trying to grow daily and ready to meet my equal’.
