Kenya was lending South Korea 30 years ago - President Ruto

The Star
President William Ruto on Sunday revealed that Kenya was lending money to South Korea 30 years ago.

"30 years ago, Kenya was lending money to them, but today, it is the world’s 10th largest economy," he said.

Speaking during a church service at Citam Karen, the President said he had a revelation while in South Korea that Kenya will be a different nation, but only if the country trusts in God.

"This week I traveled to South Korea and I was informed the last time a Kenyan Head of State visited the country was 35 years ago," he said.

"I received a great revelation that it is not by might or power, but by the Spirit of God. I urge Kenyans to trust God."

Ruto said history has it that at some point Kenya made a contribution to support South Korea.

"I went there to seek support and they were generous."

He also said the focus in Kenya right now is not about politics but issues, programmes and development.

"I’m truly proud that Kenya is making strides in the right direction; we have walked away from the politics of ethnicity, hate and division," he said.

Ruto added that the democracy in Kenya has matured referring to the peaceful elections that were held in August.

"We also set a new record for ourself that we have come of age and our democracy has matured. We can go to elections, vote, go to work and wait for the results in a peaceful tranquil manner," he said.
