Katapult launched startup accelerator in Kigali

In partnership with the Tony Blair Institute, Norrsken and Smart Africa and supported by Norad, Katapult Africa aims to invest in and help scale the next generation of impact agri- and climate tech startups.

Katapult Africa launched its Accelerator program in Kigali, Rwanda welcoming 9 portfolio companies to the Katapult family.The event brought together over 200 investors, gathering to see the most innovative agri-tech startups tackling value-chain inefficiencies and impact on the continent.

To support unique startups takes a unique lineup of content providers. Over the course of the program these experts bring to the table everything from industry specific knowledge to the fundamentals of building an impactful company. During the last 5 years the Katapult team has taken great pride in building this impact network and we are immensely thankful for their continued support as we grow as an organization.

Africa represents some of the fastest-growing economies globally. With a young and tech-savvy population, the continent is poised to become the focal point for sustainable agriculture and food production. The investment opportunities presented will help feed the society of tomorrow.

Commenting on the event Philp Gasaatura, Country Director, Kapult Africa said: ’’ The last couple of months have been exciting, getting to speak and engage with many amazing startups and founders from across the African continent. I’m really excited for the future in Africa seeing many companies work tirelessly to solve the challenges in their communities and across Africa.’’

The portfolio of startups selected for the program - Afrikamart, AquaRech LTD, Elucid.social, Gricd Integrated Services limited, GrowAgric, Legendary Foods (Africa), Sand to Green, Spark, Vetsark Limited represent some of the very best talent, teams and companies across Africa solving some of the big challenges Africa faces in Agriculture and Climate resilience. Over the next 3 months the Accelerator program the focus will be on supporting these startups through their Growth, Investment and Impact Strategies.

Africa represents some of the fastest-growing economies globally. With a young and tech-savvy population, the continent is poised to become the focal point for sustainable agriculture and food production. The investment opportunities presented will help feed the society of tomorrow.
