How to maintain clean beard during 'No-shave November'

How to maintain clean beard during ’No-shave November’

You should make it part of your daily morning ritual to take care of it
In Summary
• Facial hair is let loose during this month, but that does not mean dropping hygiene

• Here are some dos and don’ts to get through the month looking fly even while bushy

The No-shave November campaign, or Movember, was started to challenge men to grow hair without cutting it.

During this campaign, many men opt to remain hairy on a part of their body of choice.

This could include hair on their face, beards, moustache and anywhere they can stand it.

However, at this time, it’s a bit difficult to maintain a beard that is not well-kept.

Here are a few tips to keep the beard neat and clean.

Clean the beard every morning
Having a long beard that has not been trimmed and shaped might require the man to put in the extra effort.

Any long hair has a risk of having dandruff.

So to avoid this, ensure the beard is cleaned with shampoo every morning

After which you can then apply moisturiser.

Cleaning daily will reduce the risk of germs, dirt, oil and dead skin.

Choose a suitable moisturiser
Select an appropriate moisturiser for your beard as you would choose a shampoo or cleanser.

If you have acne-prone skin, a beard conditioner may work best.

For normal or dry skin, try beard oil. For sensitive skin, use a fragrance-free oil.

For best results, apply your moisturiser immediately after washing your beard and gently drying your face with a towel.

Check the skin under the beard
As you apply different products to your beard, one is likely to interfere with the skin below the beard.

This could include the neckline and lower part of the chin.

Pay attention to any acne or irritation at the bottom of the beard and on the sides, too.

The other critical part is also the front part of the ears, which is closer to the beard.

It could also be affected due to cleansers and moisturisers.

Dos and don’ts during No-shave November

1. No moustaches

2. Go big or go home.

3. Don’t stop trimming

4. Do invest in beard oils

5. Don’t over-cleanse

6. Do adopt healthy eating
